In advance of the digital release of Stuyvesant’s new LP Shmyvesant, the fine folks at SPIN have taken an interest in the record and are streaming it in its entirety.
Prior to the Gin Blossoms comparison, they state “even with the suburban mollification of the Vans Warped Tour, down-to-earth, old-school pop-punk is still spry and kicking.
And while there are few terms we abhor more than “pop-punk,” and few bands we abhor more than the Gin Blossoms, we get it. It’s crunchy, hook-laden, breakneck pop, and you can listen to it here (and read the review).
Thank you to the folks at SPIN, who introduced us to REM in the 80s and who continue to prove that they’re a mainstream publication that does not give a fuck about what bands are being featured on the big, trendy blogs that generally ignore bands without a bearded ukelele player.
